When

19/02/2022 - 20/02/2022
All Day

Event Type

WICEN NSW will conduct its FEBEX22 exercise on 19-20 February, just a couple of weeks away. This email provides updated information for local amateur radio operators who may wish to join in.
OBJECTIVE
The aim of the exercise is two-fold:
1. To set up an ad-hoc wide area voice and data communications network using amateur and commercial HF frequencies involving as many nodes across ACT & NSW as possible.
2. To use the exercise to introduce new WICEN members to the methods and processes of the group, and to get them on the air, perhaps for the first time.
LOCAL AMATEUR RADIO OPERATORS
Local amateur operators are invited, indeed encouraged. WICEN NSW will listen on repeaters local to their stations for any local operators who may wish to call in during the exercise. Contacts on HF frequencies will also be welcome.
FREQUENCIES
With planning well under way, details of frequencies to be used are listed below for anyone who wishes to make contact during the exercise.
Frequencies / Modes
3600 kHz LSB Voice
7xxx kHz LSB Voice* – TBA
147.500 MHz Simplex FM Voice

OPERATING TIMES
Saturday – Optional Activity 1600 to 1900
This session will be an informal one during which stations will set up and test their equipment. All are welcome to make contact and say G’day.
Sunday – Formal Exercise 0900 to 1300
This session will include regular SITREPS (Situation Reports) from participating stations. Calls from local amateur operators to participating stations are invited/encouraged.
LOCAL REPEATER USE
The FEBEX22 exercise is intended to be an HF exercise only. There is no intention to use local repeaters as part of the exercise. During the course of the exercise, WICEN operators may make an All Station call on local repeaters to invite local amateur operators to make contact. If this use of a repeater in your area is not acceptable, please advise WICEN before the exercise.
