CHADARC Solitary Islands Award

The Award

This award is issued by the Coffs Harbour and District Amateur Radio Club (CHADARC), to any licensed amateur operator, or short wave listener, who contacts the prescribed number of CHADARC stations and presents a complying application. The certificate displays one of Coffs Harbour’s most distinctive landmarks, the South Solitary Island situated 16.4 kilometre northeast of Coffs Harbour on Australia’s east coast. The award shows the South Solitary in full colour with the award information over-printed on the certificate.

How to Comply

To comply, the applicant is required to submit a log extract showing date and time in UTC, mode, callsign of the CHADARC station worked, including at least one contact made with the club station VK2EP, and ciphers exchanged. Short wave listeners shall include the station worked by the CHADARC station being claimed and shall include at least one contact made by the club station VK2EP. Each CHADARC station worked counts as one point. Each station may only be claimed once on any band. The change of status to mobile, portable, etc. is not allowed as a separate valid contact unless at least twenty four hours has elapsed. Contacts via terrestrial repeater systems, IRLP and Echo Link are valid contacts towards the award.

Award Requirements

10 points. HF and/or VHF, IRLP and Echo Link within VK, excluding VK9 and VKO: Proof of contacts made with ten CHADARC stations, including the club station VK2EP.

5 points. HF and/or VHF outside VK, including VK9 and VKO: Proof of contacts made with five CHADARC stations, including the club station VK2EP.

10 points. IRLP and Echo Link: Contacts made from outside Australia using IRLP and Echo Link require ten contacts with CHADARC stations, including the club station VK2EP.

10 points. Short Wave Listeners: Proof of contacts heard with ten CHADARC stations, including the club station, VK2EP.
